Anne & Martin Beslay

— A French dream on Kerala's coast
2009 Opened as a private retreat

A friendship,
built by the sea.

Canaan Beach Resort is, at its heart, a story of friendship and a shared love for life by the sea.

In 2006, a French couple — Anne & Martin Beslay — discovered this untouched stretch of Kerala coastline and purchased four acres from fourteen local fishing families. Over three years, they created Canaan, opening in 2009 as a private coastal retreat inspired by slow living and natural beauty.

Soon, nine close friends joined them, each building a cottage within the property. Today, each of the ten cottages is named after its owner — making Canaan a home shaped by memories, stories, and friendship.

For over sixteen years, these friends have returned every January and February — escaping the French winter, playing Pétanque, and swimming in the warm Arabian Sea.

Today, Canaan continues to offer that same spirit — quiet luxury, warm hospitality, and a timeless connection to the gentle rhythm of the sea.

— The Ten

Ten cottages,
ten friends.

Each cottage at Canaan is named after the friend who built it — and every January, they gather again around one long table by the sea.
